古鸿廷(Ku Hung-ting)
古鸿廷,一九四一年生于广东梅县。一九六三年台湾东海大学毕业后，赴美深造，先进入北爱荷华州立大学主修社会学，获文学硕士学位。一九六九年在俄亥俄州立大学历史系攻读。一九七三年获历史学博士学位，论文为《Urban mass politics in the Shouthern China, 1923-1927 : some case studies》。一九七四年受聘出任新加坡南洋大学历史系讲师。一九七八/一九七九年度曾担任该系主任。一九八零年回返台湾，历任台湾中央研究院社会科学研究所兼任研究员、美国哈佛大学东亚研究所客座研究员、东海大学历史系研究所教授兼所长、通识教育中心教授兼系主任等职。主要编著有：《东南亚华人问题研究》，《清代都察院大臣年表》，《清代大学士年表》，《东南亚华侨的认同问题——马来亚篇》和《台湾历史与文化》等书。有关新马华人问题的论文有：《论“南洋华人民族主义运动之研究”》，《中国国民党改组后的群众运动：兼以一九二七年之“牛车水事件为例》，《马来半岛华文教育的发展与困境，1950-1969年》和《星马华人政治与文化认同的困境：南洋大学的创立与关闭》等二十多篇。
